How Meditation Works:

Meditation, according to scientific research, induces changes in the brain and body, including an increase in slower brain wave frequencies, which are associated with relaxation and creativity. Regular practice of meditation can lead to neuroplasticity, allowing the brain to reorganize itself. This can improve self-awareness, empathy, and memory. Meditation also reduces stress by decreasing cortisol levels, a stress hormone, and enhances attention and concentration due to increased gray matter in relevant brain regions. Mindfulness meditation activates the prefrontal cortex, which is linked to executive functions, self-control, and self-awareness. Furthermore, meditation has been linked to improvements in overall well-being, including reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety, promoting a more positive outlook on life.
